Tips for Safely
Sharing the Road

Stay out of the “No-Zone”. Oversize vehicles, like trucks, have huge No-Zones directly behind them as well as on either side. A good rule of thumb is if you are unable to see the driver’s mirrors, the driver is unable to see you. Pass Safely. Oversize vehicles, like trucks require twice the amount of time and space to stop as smaller vehicles. Before pulling in front of a truck, you should be able to see the entire front of the truck in your rear-view mirror, and make sure you don’t slow down. Avoid the “Squeeze Play”. Oversize vehicles, like trucks sometimes need to swing wide to the left to safely make a right turn. In that time, the driver is unable to see cars squeezing in between them and the curb. Pay close attention to truck’s turn signals and allow ample room for them to turn.
